Ron “Amen-Ra” Lawrence is a renowned music producer whose work has shaped hip-hop and R&B. With over 50 million records sold and more than 30 gold and platinum albums, he’s produced iconic tracks including The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize,” Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From,” The Lox’s “Money, Power & Respect,” Faith Evans’ “Love Like This,” Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “Been Around the World,” and LL Cool J’s “Phenomenon.”
Honoured with a NARAS Governor’s Award, Ron has worked with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, R. Kelly, and Boyz II Men. He began making music in college, co-founding Two Kings in a Cipher with Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie, later joining Bad Boy’s HitMen and earning Producer of the Year recognition.
Beyond records, Ron scored Spike Lee’s Bamboozled, contributed to the Pink Panther soundtrack, and produced music for major brands, including Coca-Cola. Mountain Dew, and And-1. He also released the documentary Founding Fathers and published his autobiography Where I’m From in 2019, cementing his lasting influence on music and culture.
