The Darkroom Recording Studio is a state of the art new facility in North West London, housed in what was Battery Studio 1. So many legends have passed through these doors, including the likes of Lou Reed, R Kelly, Annie Lennox, The Pet Shop Boys & The Tribe Called Quest.
The studio has been totally refitted to embrace the future at a world-class level. Catering to both recording artists and record producers. Suitable for all recording and mixing needs the studio comes with an array of vintage equipment set around a AMS Neve 88D digital desk providing a huge 500 paths of processing. This provides any producer with a great and fast plug-in and play set up for any portable systems.
We embrace the old and the new at the studio and even have analogue tape should you wish to print to 24 track or 1/2 inch. The studio boasts a wooden floored 56 square meter live room, featuring a flexible configuration of acoustic options, most noticeably utilizing the full height stone wall at one end, and a tight drum treatment at the other, allowing for everything from larger than life drums, through to orchestras, to tight and intimate vocals. When it comes to instruments, the space is home to both a complete Hammond B3 with Leslie, and a Wurlitzer, as well as a Apex Birch kit. Pianos, guitars, and amps can be brought in as needed upon request. The building also contains a shared kitchen and large decking area with BBQ for the summer, and a wood-burning stove for the winter.
